Our Tax Dollars At Work

On the ironic side of the news today, the U.S. Department of Justice has opened an investigation into possible anti-competitive pricing of online music by the world's major music labels. This is the kind of news that calls for a pause while the collective consciousness of ShoutWire stops laughing.

"The Antitrust Division is looking at the possibility of anti-competitive practices in the music download industry," Justice Department spokeswoman Gina Talamona said, completely oblivious to torrents and Limewire. It reminds me of a quote from a movie I once saw hundreds of times. “Here is the pulse; here is your hand, far away from the pulse, jammed straight up your ass. Would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?”

When will these people stop wasting our tax money on stupidity such as this? They would do good to give it up already. We are going to take our music for free and there is not a god damn thing they can do about it. Don’t get me wrong, it is nice to see the music industry taking it in the ass for once, but this is really just a circus act to waste our tax dollars when there are people in Louisiana that are still homeless.

Hopefully, this will all end in a smoky back room with some unscrupulous politician taking an undisclosed amount of money and a few free concert tickets for his kids. At least then we wouldn’t be the ones paying for this whole thing.
