George Bush In His Own Words

The little things are what matter most. Things like opening doors for women, taking the top off a beer when you hand it to a friend, and having the good sense to keep your head out of your ass when you’re the leader of the free world.

President Bush seems to have never learned that last one. "I'm the commander — see, I don't need to explain — I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." Interesting indeed.

And good luck for him. Even the quickest of minds would have a hard time explaining a few of the gems this guy has sprouted. George Bush himself knows this better than any of us. "I'm the master of low expectations" he was quoted as saying while aboard air force one in June of 2003.

I think we can all agree that when running the largest nation in the world it is important to keep your priorities straight. On September 13th, 2001, Bush said "The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him." That’s all fine and good, but exactly five months to the day later he was quoted as saying "I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority." I must have missed the part somewhere in those five months where someone else did something worse and knocked Osama off the most wanted list.

That’s far from the only time he has flipped on an issue. "Major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed." He said May 1st, 2003, while standing under the now infamous “Mission Accomplished” banner while giving a speech aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. Just yesterday he told the press on the subject of the insurgents "They know that as democracy takes root in Iraq, their hateful ideology will suffer a devastating blow. So we can expect violence to continue."

I understand that no one is perfect and as things change situations change as well, but all out lies are different.

“We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories … And we'll find more weapons as time goes on. But for those who say we haven't found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they're wrong, we found them." Everyone in the entire world knows now that this isn’t true.

One good thing can be said for him, he does know what he wants. In December of 2000 he stated "If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." We can see now that he knows how to get what he wants as well.

You would think that being a president that is so involved in foreign policy, he would know a little about the world. Not true. In 2001 he asked Brazilian President Fernando Cardoso, "Do you have blacks, too?" To be fair, he did admit in 2002 that "This foreign policy stuff is a little frustrating."

He does have some real ideas on how to fight the war on terror though. "People say, how can I help on this war against terror? How can I fight evil? You can do so by mentoring a child; by going into a shut-in's house and say I love you." But that’s not all we can do. "We need to counter the shockwave of the evildoer by having individual rate cuts accelerated and by thinking about tax rebates." I’m sure that’s going to smoke Osama out of his cave.

I could go on forever but it is time to let the people comment. Just remember, Bush supporters, this article would have never been possible without your beloved commander in chief. Maybe we will get lucky in ’08 and McCain will finally win.
